Using the Apple TV app

Apple TV is the easiest way to fill a lobby: your TV shows album art, a live visualizer, and friendly trivia while the music plays through whatever sound system the TV already uses.

Set it up

  1. On your Apple TV, open the App Store and search for SoftWork Beats (or start from the apps page). The download is free.
  2. Open the app. It shows a short code and the address softworkbeats.com/apple.
  3. On your phone or computer, open that address, sign in, enter the code, and approve the TV.
  4. Pick a genre and press play.

Make it lobby-proof

Open the app's settings (the gear on the player) to find:

  • Keep display on — on by default. SoftWork Beats stays on screen instead of the Apple TV screensaver, so the art and trivia keep running even while the music is paused — and the daily schedule can start playback by itself.
  • Show trivia — toggle the on-screen trivia.
  • Auto play/pause daily — the schedule, in five-minute steps, so the music follows your business hours without anyone touching a remote.

Sound

The music plays out of whatever the Apple TV feeds — the TV's speakers, a soundbar, or a receiver. If you want it somewhere else, see Getting the music to your speakers.
